Reading and listening tests, administered digitally

In languages you test reading, listening and vocabulary. In TestWisely you attach a reading text or audio fragment to a group of questions, decide how often a student may play a fragment, and a student types é, ß or ñ with a single tap.

What you can do in languages

Reading text for a group of questions

In the Questions step, click Add reading text (Voeg leestekst toe) and paste the text with a title. With + and − you decide how many questions the text belongs to. The student sees the text next to the question, or above it on a narrow screen. If a student has read-aloud switched on, TestWisely reads the text aloud sentence by sentence, in the language of the subject.

  • Read text aloud

Audio fragment with a playback limit

With Add audio fragment (Voeg luisterfragment toe) you attach an audio file to a group of questions. Under Max plays (Max afspelen) you choose unlimited, 1x, 2x, 3x or 5x. That counter applies to the whole group: 2x means 2x in total, not per question. The student has no seek bar, so skipping forward or back is not possible.

  • Add audio fragment
  • Max plays

Reading test, listening test or mixed

In the Material step, under "What kind of test?" (Wat voor toets?), you choose a Reading test, a Listening test or Mixed. A reading test starts with a reading text, a listening test with an audio fragment. With the question type Select text (Tekst aanklikken), the student clicks words in a text. If AI is switched on for your school, Generate questions (Vragen genereren) creates reading comprehension questions for your reading text.

Accent keyboard for French, German and Spanish

In a French, German or Spanish test, the student sees a bar below an open question and a fill-in-the-blank question with the characters of that language, such as é, ç, ß, ñ and ¿. A tap places the character at the cursor position. With the Capitals button the student types É or Ñ.

Words per chapter

If your textbook with a word list is on your Bookshelf (Boekenplank), you choose the chapter in Flashcards (Leerkaarten) and tick the sections. With Create flashcard set (Leerkaartenset maken), your classes practise the words in class and at home. If your school has Tests, you turn the same words into a vocabulary test: fill in the blank, multiple choice or matching, from or into Dutch.

How it works

  1. Choose the kind of test

Click + New test (+ Nieuwe toets). For a language subject, in the Material step you choose a reading test, a listening test or a mixed test.

  2. Add a text or fragment

Paste the reading text or upload the audio fragment and add questions to it. For a fragment, you set Max plays.

  3. Schedule and mark

Click Save and schedule (Opslaan en klaarzetten). TestWisely marks multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank and matching questions itself.
