What it is about
A good screen does not stand out. You see straight away where to look, you can read everything, and the next screen feels familiar. You do not get there with separate pretty pictures, but with a design language that holds up everywhere. You will shape it further.
Why now
The platform is growing, and with every new part it becomes more important that everything fits together. We have a foundation with design tokens and a light and a dark theme. Now is the time to turn that into a complete component library.
What you will do
- Develop the visual design language further: colour, typography, spacing and design tokens
- Build a component library that works in a light and a dark theme
- Make screens consistent, so that everything feels like one product
- Design icons and illustrations that fit how we want to come across
- Ensure good contrast and readability, also for students who find reading hard
- Work with developers, so that your design ends up in code the way you meant it
What you learn, and what you deliver
We set your learning goals together with you and your school or university. Every programme has its own requirements, and we think it matters more that the goals match what you want to learn than that they are already listed on this page. It is one of the first things we discuss in the interview.
End product
You leave with something finished that you can show: work that is live, or research we can build on afterwards. What exactly that will be, we decide together once we know what you want to get good at.
What you work with
The exchange
What we ask of you
- You are enrolled in a degree programme at a university or university of applied sciences, in Communication and Multimedia Design, graphic design or visual design
- You have an eye for detail and a portfolio you are proud of
- You can explain why something looks the way it does, not just that it looks good
- You see accessibility as part of good design
A plus, not a requirement
- Experience with design systems or component libraries
- Some work in illustration or iconography
- You can read HTML and CSS
What we offer in return
- A good learning path, with guidance from people who know the craft
- Several hours a week with one of the founders, not a group intake
- Equipment and your own desk if you need them
- Travel expenses covered if you do not have a student public transport pass
- Real barista coffee, made with the best beans in all of Amsterdam
- A reference afterwards, and a chance of a job with us
