What it is about

You will not be building a practice project here. What you write this week, a class of thirty uses next week. That makes it more exciting and more instructive than most internships: you find out straight away whether a choice was right, because there are real students on the other side.

Why now

We run everything ourselves: our own servers in Amsterdam, our own database, our own language model. Nothing from a big cloud provider, because schools need to know where their students' data is stored. That means you see the whole chain here, from the button a student presses to the model that assesses their answer. At a large company you would see one layer of that.

What you will do

  • Build on the platform: features for teachers and students, from design to production
  • Or work on our own language model: making the marking of open answers better and more reliable
  • Put your own work live, with guidance. Everyone here deploys
  • Think along about how something should work, not just build what has already been decided

What you learn, and what you deliver

We set your learning goals together with you and your school or university. Every programme has its own requirements, and we think it matters more that the goals match what you want to learn than that they are already listed on this page. It is one of the first things we discuss in the interview.

End product

You leave with something finished that you can show: work that is live, or research we can build on afterwards. What exactly that will be, we decide together once we know what you want to get good at.

What you work with

React and Node.jsSupabase and PostgreSQLOur own language model (vLLM) on our own hardwareOur own VPS in Amsterdam, Caddy and PM2A native iOS app for taking tests in a secure mode

The exchange

You bring

What we ask of you

  • You are enrolled in a degree programme at a university or university of applied sciences, in software engineering, computer science, AI or data science
  • You can dig into a problem on your own, and you say so when you get stuck
  • You write code that someone else will still understand six months from now
  • You like that real students use your work, and you understand that this calls for care

A plus, not a requirement

  • Experience with React or Node outside your coursework
  • Something you have built with language models, even if it was small
  • An interest in education, or simply a good memory of your own exam weeks
You get

What we offer in return

  • A good learning path, with guidance from people who know the craft
  • Several hours a week with one of the founders, not a group intake
  • Equipment and your own desk if you need them
  • Travel expenses covered if you do not have a student public transport pass
  • Real barista coffee, made with the best beans in all of Amsterdam
  • A reference afterwards, and a chance of a job with us

What happens next

  1. You send your message

Your motivation in your own words plus your CV. No standard cover letter needed; just write why this appeals to you.

  2. A reply within five working days

Even if it is a no. You will always hear from us.

  3. An hour to get to know each other

At our office in Amsterdam or online. We show you the platform and you tell us what you want to get good at.

  4. Join us for half a day

You work on something real and see how we work. After that, we both know.

  5. Making arrangements

An internship agreement with your school or university, a start date, and what you will deliver.
